Introduction
Drug and alcohol abuse is considered a serious public health concern that significantly influences both the user and the user's family. It is perceived that this particular issue and its effect on children has been given important attention during the last few decades. The research also states that children of drug and alcohol-abusing parents have a great risk of developing various physical, mental and behavioral complications. However, it has been observed that there is a number of intervention programs such as motivational interviewing, psychodynamic therapy, family therapy, parent skill training, have been initiated for vulnerable parents who are involved in drugs and alcohol. Similarly, there are significant interventions designed for children who have at least one or both parents addicted to drugs and alcohol (Neger & Prinz, 2015).
Thus, it can be stated that it is still imprecise how people can reduce the negative effects that parental drug and alcohol abuse has on children because of the insufficiency of assessments that apply difficult methodologies, for instance, experimental strategies. Furthermore, this paper will entail a personal reflection based on the suggested interventions, personal and intellectual qualifications, past human service experience, and future goals that are relevant to assist the most economically and socially disadvantaged groups in our society. Ethical dilemma, the decision-making process and the factors that contributed to the ultimate outcome and the way this decision pursue an MSW will help to reach personal and professional goals.

It is vital for families who are seriously dealing with drug and alcohol issue to receive continuous help because the difficulties are expected to be long-lasting. Care-takers or social workers are responsible for helping those parents who are dealing with this particular social problem in different ways such as it is important to help children while reducing their exposure to risk and improve their parenting skills. Interventions that address psychosocial substance misuse are non-pharmacological therapeutic interventions delivered to individuals or groups, which seek to tackle the psychological, social, personal and relational problems associated with substance misuse (Calhoun, et al., 2015). There are many different psychosocial interventions with approaches and techniques that vary according to their theoretical underpinnings. Motivational interviewing is considered as a person-centered approach to solving conflicts related to behavioral changes. Unlike cognitive behavioral interferences, there is no change in motivation. Motivation is viewed as malleable and formed within the context of the therapist-client relationship.
Therapists use specific strategies to develop motivation, to mobilize the client's internal resources and internal motivation, and in the process allow the clients to start and get changes in their behavior.
