President Donald Trump has raised his voice against the unfair trading system within the country with an aim to make the United States less competitive in international markets. America’s current account deficit indicates that the government frequently borrows to create a balance between consumption and investment. Trump’s efforts in this regard are admirable, and the trade policies he has introduced can influence the composition of trade flow to an extent (Irwin, 2017).
