October 7, 2011 marks the 10th year of the US war against Afghanistan`s terrorist forces and Americans are asking, when will the war stop? With economic recession in full swing, and unemployment rates still at record high, citizens are calling for austerity measures: stop spending on military activities and focus instead on the rebuilding of the US economy.
The call to end the US-Afghanistan war is no longer a surprise. In 2009, statements were released as to the viability of success in this endeavor. How sure is the government that the Afghan war will not end up like the Saigon regime where thousands of American soldiers died and millions of dollars were wasted?

This corresponded to 50% increase in troop strength, from 44,000 to 84,000. Yet, it has to be mentioned that despite the support for the Afghan war, no substantial success has been recorded. Military control is limited to Kabul and extremists still roam the country.
