2-1 -Emotional Intelligence
Coping with emotionseffectively is necessary to work as a manager and to developemotional intelligence (EI). Emotional intelligence includes self-awareness, self-management, socialawareness, and relationship management (Kreitner&Kinicki, 2013). Self-awareness means having a deep understanding of your emotions, strengths, weaknesses, needs, and impulses, and it is necessary as leaders need to have realistic expectations. Self-management is similar to self-regulation allows onenot to show impulsiveness, which is linked to integrity and taking responsibility for the consequences of actions.Social-awareness includes empathy, organizational awareness, and service, and helps read other peoples’ emotions, and recognize their needs. Relationship managementhelps to manage relationships with others since one can inspire, andinfluence as well as manage conflicts and negotiations.
