DISCUSSION

2.1: Describe the practices of a coaching model of your choice. Explain the strength and challenges associated with that coaching model.

Solutions-focused coaching is a compelling model. This is the best model because the model focuses on finding solutions instead of the problems. With this coaching model, the coachee can be able to build the strengths instead of concentrating on the weaknesses. With this model, the coach ensures that others have been able to find positive ways of handling problems instead of examining the barriers (King, Schwellnus, Servais, & Baldwin, 2019). Those people who use this coaching model are often energized and motivated.  One of the best things about this model is that an individual can be able to come up with solutions within the shortest time possible. The model does not involve a lengthy problem analysis procedure. Instead, the coach focuses on the few questions and gives simple solutions in just a few minutes.

However, with this model, a coach is required to listen to the client, and this means that the words of the client should be taken seriously. If the client says that something should be done, then it will be done (Baldwin, King, Evans, McDougall, Tucker, & Servais, 2013). If there are coaches who have not used this coaching model, I would highly recommend that they use it because they will make a massive impact on their clients.

Question 2-2   Analyze what factors determine if a coaching model is a good fit for the population you are working with  There are various factors that a coach considers when determining the best coaching style to use on a particular demographic. There is a saying that states, "Coaches dance with the clients" (Gray, Garvey, & Lane, 2016). The coaching model should be able to reflect this. One of the factors that should be considered is the learning style of clients. Coaches generally use Kolb's learning style during coaching. With this style, coaches can use demonstrations where possible. The next factors that should be considered are the beliefs and culture of the clients. To select a sound coaching model, coaches are supposed to understand the culture and expectations of their clients.

Coaching Model and Techniques
My chosen coaching model is the stages of change of addiction and drug addicts. This coaching model is also known as Transtheoretical. It is used to describe the process by which individuals overcome addiction. These stages of change can be applied to drug addicts and other individuals who have different behaviors that are difficult to leave (Hartney, 2019) This model has been embraced globally since it encourages the use of motivational interviewing rather than pathological and confrontational approaches. The model of overcoming addiction consists of four main stages, which include pre-contemplation, contemplation, preparation, and action. Moreover, the model contains additional steps, such as maintenance and relapse. Coaches prefer to use the Transtheoretical model since it helps in the encouragement and management of drug addicts' behavior. This coaching model encourages the client to follow the stages in a sequence (Hartney, 2019). But in reality, some clients jump some steps while others undergo more than one stage at the same time.
There are various coaching techniques used in this coaching model which include the use of questionnaires. This technique helps the coaches to acquire feedback from their clients about their experiences, success, and challenges that they might be going through. This information helps the coaches to prepare and make changes for the next step (Schuy & Schuy, 2019). The second technique is the use of SMART goals. This technique helps the coaches to set realistic goals that will help their clients to recover fully. Coaches should clearly understand the number of clients they can attend to a specified time to allow them to attain success in their work. There are some strengths associated with the use of questionaries' as a form of coaching technique.
Firstly, questionnaires give the clients the freedom to speak their minds...
