The country is currently uneven, uncoordinated, and unsustainable. Deng, who was a committed communist steered the economy towards the current market free economy while upholding communism and ensuring his party’s monopoly power. The transition has been from a developing country to an industrialized one, and the challenge is for it to head towards a fully developed economy (Dickson, 2016). The country is characterized by capitalism, but with a communist party framework. However, although the markets have opened up to foreign investment, the community’s day to day trade and industry business operate through the local markets, and the ownership rights are largely owned by the farmers. The Chinese government continues rooting for communism as most of the companies both small and medium-sized flourishing in business are state-owned. Most of the large and prosperous companies are state-owned. Moreover, with the government being a communist party, the country continues showing its protection of the citizens from foreigners. Although Deng’s initial policies were of decentralization from the government to the citizens, that is not the current case. Corruption has become a major problem as government officials take from the economy. The misuse of public resources has led to widespread dissatisfaction among the public on policies addressing the environment, education, and the cost and quality of health care in the country (Dickson, 2016).
