It is interesting that less than 8% of births in the US are attended by midwives while in Europe and Japan the percentage is more than 70. From the video, it is evident that most obstetricians in the US have no idea how a normal birth is done. As a result, the country has the second highest newborn death rate among the developed nations. Consequently, the maternal mortality rates are also high. All of this is as a result of the practice of giving birth through hospitals in the country.
