The fight for equality in the world has been an ongoing battle in the world. There are different organizations and activist groups that have always been lobbying for equality. Equality should be granted in aspects of race, gender, and political preferences. Dominque (2019), in his article on black lives matter, he was able to point out that violence against black people should be a thing of the past. There emerged a movement known as Black lives matter than is aimed at changing the social environment that surrounds violence against black people. Ava (2016), in her documentary (13th), explores the issues of mass incarceration, justice, and race in the United States. The title of the film is aimed at signifying the 13th amendment to the United States constitution. This amendment of the constitution was adopted in 1865, aiming to abolish slavery in the country. The film signals that slavery has continued. Slavery has happened when the police have been enabled to arrest people based on aspects of color.
Black power analysis
Dominque Thomas came up with an article with solidarity with the black lives matter movement. The movement has been in operation for the past six years. The BLM movement serves as political intervention and ideology. The article brings out the BLM movement to advocate for black people's rights and black communities. The article's primary focus is that black people have resisted physical, structural, and epistemic violence for many years. The significant points that the report advocates for intersectionality and decentralization in leadership. Intersectionality in leadership refers to the social categorizations based on gender, class, and race as applied in different groups. Intersectionality is regarded as the creation of independent and overlapping systems that create various forms of discrimination. The decentralization of leadership refers to a situation whereby power is spread to several people and not held by a single person.
Generally, Dominque states that black people have been fighting for their human rights for a long. The article states that in the current era should not be one whereby people are fighting for their basic rights.
