QUESTION 2: (Ten marks)
What are some sociological issues that arise when we consider the Internet to be an "environmental" technology? Referring to the John Lorinc article, describe at least two examples of "infrastructure technologies" proposed by Sidewalk Toronto (or other smart cities discussed in the course content or assigned readings). Summarize some sociological critiques of these proposals.

Technological development such as the internet has in some manner caused loss of quality farmland, increasing world population, deforestation, pollution, freshwater scarcity, rising sea levels, and high temperatures among other issues. These social issues are as a result of climate changes (Lorinc, 2019).
Technologies have harmful impacts on the environment. For instance, they need massive energy to properly function. This is because cloud computing and storage enables the storage of information remotely on servers. This has increased the need for bigger data-storage capabilities via large data centres that need massive amounts of energy for the servers to function. Also, the data centres using fossil fuels pollute the environment as they release waste gases into the environment that pollute natural resources water. Human consumption of such water may cause diseases.
Also, they create massive waste that is challenging to dispose of suitably and in a safe manne...
