Through history there is an indication that the highest number of immigrants into America was in the early centuries of the 1800 and 1900, with the highest numbers from the Southern and Eastern Europe and Latin America. The African Americans are a products of the immigrant activities of the 17th and the 18th centuries. With the increased migration of the immigrants into America the racism ideologies, discrimination among other negative perceptions became prevalent in the early 1900s. Areas where the immigrants lived were seen as dangerous and therefore the natives avoided these areas.
During the period of 1924 to 1965 there were new policies that were adopted which favored the immigrants to sponsor their families and bring them into America. With such policies the immigrants were granted some of the basic rights that allowed them to participate in economic development. Despite the negative perceptions about the immigrants there are several positive attributes that were achieved through the immigrants. Urban economic growth and development was facilitated by the immigrants. They also played an important role in the American politics. For instance the formation of Roosevelt Movement of the 1930s through which John F. Kennedy was elected American president. They have also contributed to the American culture and creation of positive image about immigrants among Americans. This is based on their creative nature in the field of arts like in the American film industry.
The 20th century records one of the most significant century in the history of immigrants. With the restrictions and job limitations for immigrant of the early centuries, the immigrants still emerged stronger in the job industry. With their hard work they were adopted in the filed of science and research contributing to solution finding to the problem of America.
