William J. Reese, the writer of the book, Christian theology: Scripture, tradition and Practice has written on several homilies that are essential to every Christian seeking a closer walk with God by writing about the fundamentals revolving around Christianity. Taking a deeper walk with Christ as is emphasized through the chapters of this book cannot be achieved without the understanding of who Christ is and all that surrounds His work and this is termed as Christology CITATION Wil12 \l 1033 (Reese, 2012). Luginbill in short words terms Christology as ‘the study of Jesus Christ’ and continues to say Jesus Christ is the life of every Christian. Therefore this paper entails the definition of Christology in two aspects, who Jesus was and His saving work.
Reese describes Christology as depicted from the four gospels of the Bible as both divine and as a human being. Christ is believed to be the manifestation of God the Father and it is therefore impossible to define Christology without calling Jesus both human and divine CITATION Gre04 \l 1033 (Herrick, 2004). Only a god could save the world and this debt could only be paid by a human through death. Therefore God had to be human and experience all that pertains humanity, birth, normal life and eventually death yet in all these maintain his form of deity.
