Introduction
For the spiritual, I decided to take a walk on the Labyrinth. A Labyrinth is a complex irregular connection of passages which go round turning in various directions. Unlike the maze which has many dead ends, the path is continuous with the destination being the middle of the Labyrinth. I walked the one located behind Kearns Spirituality Center. It is always open for use so long as there isn’t any other group using it. I walked it last Saturday at 3 pm. I chose this spiritual experience since I have been hearing about how it helps people meditate or in enable them to be more prayerful. Walking the Labyrinth allowed me to experience something I have never done before.
Spiritual experience
Just like the theory goes, I had time to relax my mind and centre my thoughts focusing on my inner self. Before starting the walk, I was told to decide what I wanted. For this first experience, I chose to reflect on my life. I learnt that the Labyrinth is used by people when they want to get answers to answer hard question s in their life. The most productive experience being where the solution being sought is yes or no. I walked through the 11-layer pattern in a slow succession of steps (Zucker et al. 2016). The first two layers were quite challenging. The reason is that I still couldn’t get a focus to concentrate my mind entirely and disengage with the surrounding focusing on the inside.
