Holidays are special occasions and feasting that connotes religious events, agricultural harvests among others. The rationale for choosing celebrations and festivals is that they are an essential piece of life and connect to religion (Spencer, 2016). Moreover, the celebrations serve the shared purpose and for commemoration and thanksgiving. In many instances, people are admirers to gods and use such events for social agreement, overlook the ills in society and come together in power of profound devotion and enhance moral (Spencer, 2016).
The benefits of celebrations and festivals in the study of religion are numerous. The events connect to culture, values, beliefs, and origin of people. Besides, such aspects relate to prayer that marks significance in the human race and highlights on the mythologies as well as elevating the faith of a believer. Such celebrations usually come at specific moments of the year for goodwill (Spencer, 2016).

Communities celebrate festivals about various characteristic aspects such as religion and tradition. Many nations currently treat such celebrations as national holidays or Eid. On the same note, people blend religious commemoration and thanksgiving during hemispheres such as autumn in the north and Easter in the south.

The reflective preparation marks the end of the Holy week that contains Good Friday and Easter Sunday (Foley, 2016).
The Whitsun Cycle usually commemorates the Ascension Day that celebrates the 40 days after the resurrection of Jesus at Easter. Most of the festival dates are static such as Christmas and Epiphany.
