The following paper critically analyses Sam Gosling of the University of Texas-Austin, who tries to examine the role of personality when it comes to selecting and manipulating the species. His evaluation is based on a scale which is ranging from cities to sitting rooms. Sam argues that if you don't have control when it comes to choosing your current space or your position in that space, some space features are affecting both the levels of your comfort and emotions. Sam Gosling discusses all these ideas at the Society for Personality and Social Psychology at a conference in Austin in the year 2014. During this Congress, Sam Gosling was introduced by Cheryl Kaiser.

In an overview, this conference focuses on the connection between people and their spaces. The speaker Sam tries to evaluate how the space between people and areas. Sam gives an example of dorm rooms which are similar at the start of the semester. The similarities in the dorm rooms trail off in the semester depending on the occupant. The occupant can have his dorm room in a mess depending on the people he associates with.
