Scientific Method of Research in Psychology Research is an effective way of gaining knowledge and confirming theories. The main reason why people conduct research is to inform action (Haig, 2014). Research has also been used as a basis for implementing policies and projecting future outcomes. Therefore, it is necessary for researchers to gather accurate data from their study before making any conclusions. To accurately gather information from research, it is necessary for the research to be of high quality since most information can be applied to other external settings. Research helps scientists to come up with new and improved methods of fighting diseases, improving technology and other important advancements. Certain professions such as medicine require professionals to learn research since it will be essential in improved understanding of different types of cases encountered at work. By learning about research, students are taught the different research methodologies and skills that can be applied in various settings, including work, writing, family history and in local organizations. Research also enabled individuals to confirm facts through corroboration, since similar findings from two different research projects can prove that the information is accurate.
