1 Research literacy when considered in psychology counselling, relates to strategies that are designed in such a way to enhance the experience of the students (Senders, Erlandsen, & Zwickey, 2014). It relates to being a critical consumer of research and if possible designing as well as undertaking in some small or limited way research projects within their discipline using the most appropriate methodologies. It is important that the research is within the field of study along with using the methodologies that are fitting to the research and the field. It also refers to the ability to get access, interpret and evaluate at a critical level primary literature (Senders, Erlandsen, & Zwickey, 2014). These are not skills that could be considered as intuitive as in most of the cases they have to be taught, put into practice and honed over time. Once a research has yielded the article of choice, the researcher has to determine research question being asked and whether the research design along with the analysis are appropriate to answer the question in perspective (Senders, Erlandsen, & Zwickey, 2014).
2 There are number of methods that can be used is the establishment of the relevant information to be included in the counselling research. This is mainly relative to the research question, as this will determine what the author wants to achieve (Liston, 2017). There are a number of steps that are used when establishing a rationale in conducting review of the literature to be used in a research. The first is the initial literature review which establishes the relevance of the material to be incorporated, the second is the exploratory that further delves into research that has been carried out in the past with a similar objective (Liston, 2017). The third is the focused literature review, where the researcher focuses on the fitting material, in support of the content. While the last is the refined literature review, that refines the only material to be included in the research paper (Liston, 2017).
3 The variables in the study included patients’ depression, psychopathological symptoms, caregivers’ depression, mental fatigue and restlessness (Romero & Wenz, 2017). The challenge associated with the methodology is with reference to self-medication, where patients may at times not take the correct dosage or skip altogether when they feel that they are feeling healthy (Romero & Wenz, 2017). This is a common aspect with patients as they feel they are better and are trying to avoid the side effects of the medication. Some of them of the medication will have some rough side effects that cause the patients to lose interest in taking medication, especially if they feel the symptoms have subsided.
4 Evidence based practices has been used for some time in the field of medicine and in quite a number of cases in nursing.
