Legalizing marijuana in the country ensures consumer safety. According to Barmann (2017), a lack of regulation for marijuana increase the risk for consumers to access the drug when it is already tainted with toxics. Barmann (2017) revealed that 80 percent of marijuana tested from the California-based growers contained toxic bacteria, mold, fungus, and pesticides. The lack of regulation means that the product is produced and sold under unsafe conditions risking thousands of American lives. Legalizing marijuana would enforce proper laboratory tests and regulations to eliminate toxics (Barry & Glantz, 2018). For instance, labeling quality, warnings, and other valuable information.
