Provide an example of a study that uses factorial ANOVA and at least one of the independent variables has more than 2 levels. What is the minimum number of participants you should have in your study?
When using the factorial approach in designing an experiment, the objective is to determine how the independent variables influence a process and whether they interact with each other.  In the experiment, I wound randomly choose at least 60 participants for the violent video and adult involvement factors.   The design of treatments, interventions, or factors is independent of experimental design, and indicates the way in which they are different. The experimental domain would focus on two factors and at three levels, where the design approach focuses on main effect and interaction between violent video games, adult involvement and aggressive behavior.  An example of an experiment is where the aim is to determine whether violent video games and adult involvement influence aggressive behavior in teenage boys. Video games have become more interactive and creators increasingly design games, which are violent and there are non-violent options that are less popular. Even though, the violent behavior may be skewed when the adults are involved where are most likely knowledgeable about what goes on in the games. The gamers form virtual communities, and their online behavior may reflect their real life, if certain behaviors are normalized and they are desensitized to the level of violence in the interactive video games (Engelhardt, Hilgard & Bartholow, 2015). • Independent variables: Violent computer games vs. games with moderate violence intensity vs. non-violent gamesHigh adult involvement vs. No adult involvement • Dependent Variable: Teenagers’ aggressive behavior The factors in the experiment are violent computer games and adult involvement and there are two levels where there are violent games, those with moderate level of violence non violent games and high adult involvement versus no adult involvement. In understanding the main effects, there would first be focus on the differences the level of aggressive behavior for both independent factors.  To further understand the interactions, the main effects and the interactions themselves would be taken into consideration. The crossover interactions would include the frequency in cases of reported aggressive behavior. In the ANOVA analysis the results would be the main effect of violent video games and interactions. For instance, if the teenagers involved in violent video games acted more aggressively, showed signs of aggression and self reported their aggressive behaviors his would indicate how the main effects are linked with their behavior.  One of the challenges in such an experiment is to ensure that the participa...
