The article begins by describing what ethics are in a psychological research and it states that they are the right conduct rules when doing the research. It later describes the ethical standards or principles for psychological research. The article is important because it provides individuals with the knowledge of the principles that should be adhered to in psychological research so that participants of the research can be protected and the psychology reputation can as well be protected.
The ethical standards or principles for psychological research include the informed consent principle, and it dictates that the researcher is expected to inform actual participants of the research about what the research is about and all its aspects and ask their consent to take part. The researcher should understand that it is not always feasible to gain informed consent and therefore they should respect the decisions of the individuals. Secondly, there is the undeception principle which states that the researcher should not deceive the actual participants of the research about the nature of that research (McLeod, 2015).
