Effect sizes are definitely important, especially since they help in the interpretation of the result in cases where the sample size is large, and the value of p is likely to be less than .05 for an effect that is significantly small. Although this is essentially the case for results that are statistically significant, non-statistically significant findings, where the findings are greater than .05 are also expected to be accompanied by effect size. Effect size might be regarded as a true measure of significance because it quantifies the difference between the two groups.
