Diagnoses for Schizophrenia

Essay Instructions:

The attached document contains five different complicated cases and you are going to choose ONE of the cases and diagnose that patient using what you have learned during this class.
1. Please first state which case you are using (list the number and the name)
2. THEN find as many diagnoses as you can, list them and justify the diagnosis by listing the symptoms from the case study (ie - the patient demonstrates symptoms of major depressive disorder as evidenced by the following symptoms that the patient reported).
3. Don't makeup symptoms that are not listed in this case study, stick with what you are given.
4. You need to find/list and give a justification for at LEAST TWO unique/separate diagnoses for the ONE case that you chose (you can choose more if you want, but most cases only have two distinct diagnoses)
5. You will be graded on ACCURACY (you need to find a reasonably correct diagnosis and state it correctly using the info from the DSM 5 TR) AND your ability to correctly justify the diagnosis (again, you will need the use the symptom list from the DSM 5 TR to ensure that you are adequately justifying each diagnosis).
You must use what you have learned during this class, which means you could only find the diagnoses using the ppt I have uploaded.
6. You can use a bulleted style format for this, but please use professional language and do NOT COPY LISTS DIRECTLY FROM THE DSM - you need to use your own language and show that the patient meets the criteria for the specific diagnoses that you list and you need to show how the symptoms listed in the case study meet the criteria (or don't).
7. Please focus on being accurate, as points are being assigned for accurate diagnosis.

Brian’s primary diagnosis is schizophrenia. To this end, Brian has exhibited delusions, hallucinations, disorganized speech, and negative symptoms during the last 1-month period (A). As narrated in the case study, the patient had delusions that people were conspiring against him and would frequently hear voices in his head that seemed like real people to him. When a mental examination was conducted, Brian had disorganized speech, as he could not stay on one topic for a long period. Also, the patient has experienced a disturbance in self-care, interpersonal relations, and work (B). When the symptoms started showing, Brian took a leave of absence due to delusions. The delusions did not stop, and he was fired after failing to report to work. In the same vein, the onset of schizophrenia has strained Brian’s relationship ...
