Introduction
Most often, the early life of every child’s health and development. Besides, child development examines the process through which young people grow from infancy through adulthood, and there are various aspects used in determining the growth and development of young people to adulthood; these include physical, cognitive, and social growth. Child-development researchers and theorists examine factors that are likely to facilitate the social, physical, and emotional growth of young people. Besides, the child development theories help to comprehend how children grow; some of these theories concentrate on developmental milestones while others focus on specific achievements that are attained by children at a certain age.
Maria Montessori
Maria Montessori was born in 1970 in Chiaravalle, Italy. After breaking the conventional barriers she encountered in her education, Montessori dominated the medical field after becoming the first physician woman in Italy. Additionally, Montessori also developed interests in the needs of children with rare disabilities. It is also important to note that Maria Montessori helped in facilitating a teaching programme which was intended to help defective children understand how to read and write. Montessori’s early medical practice was mainly focused on psychiatry, she, however, become interested in education, and she attended pedagogy classes, which enabled her to concentrate on educational theory. Besides, her studies enabled her to observe and examine the approaches for teaching children with developmental disabilities, which existed during her time. Montessori would later evaluate ways through which the prevailing methods would be improved.
Montessori Method
This is a learning approach that is based on several principles that are critical in promoting active learning as well as the independence of learning based on the pace of development of each child. According to Montessori, an ideal classroom includes children of various ages, and this was critical for promoting socialization and natural solidarity among the learners (Fundacion Montessori, 2018). She stipulated that a classroom should gather children in a difference of three years old, children who are three years old or younger, kids between three and six years, children between six and nine years, and those between nine and thirteen years. She emphasized that mixed-age classrooms were instrumental in promoting spontaneous cooperation and would also favor the desire to learn.
Ussually, educators are required to recognize the evolutionary needs of a child that take place in every developmental stage and should also facilitate a favorable environment that encourages the spiritual, physical, and cognitive growth of children (Siegler et al., 2017).
