Applied behavior analysis refers to the scientific technique which involves the use of empirical tactics based on the learning principle to change behavior that have significant social impact. Applied behavior analysis can be differentiated from experimental behavior analysis since it adopts the principles of treating thoughts, radical behaviorism, treating emotions as well as other covert actions (Bailey & Burch, 2017). Experimental behavior analysis, on the other hand, is based on experimental research. This paper purposes to use applied behavior analysis to offer social to specific social situations.
* Jason, a high school sophomore, rarely finishes his writing assignments in his English composition class.
 For Jason, applied behavior analysis would involve different techniques applied to understand and change behaviors which make Jason not finish his assignments in English composition class. Analysis would help the caregivers to devise flexible treatment plan that would improve the results (Bailey & Burch, 2017). The adjustments can be adapted to meet Jason’s unique personalities. The techniques should be applied both at home and school. The techniques should be those that are useful in everyday’s life. The strategy can also involve one on one teaching or instructions given to the student. Positive reinforcement is a major strategy that would be considered for the student. The technique should also be coupled with a reward as this would encourage the student to repeat the behavior and make it a habit. With time, the student would adopt this habit and own it. The therapist should identify the goal of the behavior. Every time the student successfully uses the behavior, the student can get a reward. The reward in this case is considered as meaningful to the student. With positive rewards, the person would be encouraged to continue using her skills. Over time this would lead to a permanent change of behavior. When conducting a parent training for this student, the parent should first consider the child’s learning history, observational learning and operant conditioning (Bailey & Burch, 2017). This would make the parent to have a clear understanding of the learning skills of the student to see what to improve on. Operant conditioning helps a child to get over fear and go to sleep more independently and without any fear. It can also help the parents to learn more about the consequences and antecedents in the behaviors of the ids.
* Ted, a first-grader, eats very little of his lunch each day no matter whether he buys if from the school cafeteria or he brings the lunch to school
Since eating disorders can be as a result of health risks such as clinical depression, and substance abuse, applied behavior analysis can help in working out the clinical treatment processes.
