Analyzing Correlation and Causation: Statistics Correlation Variables
Analyzing Correlation and Causation - real-life situations for example hospital staffing shortage and increased consumer demand that might show a correlation.
Determine whether the correlation is positive or negative.
Describe how someone might infer that one event "causes" the other.
Decide if this causation is reasonable, or if there is another explanation for why the two events are correlated.
How might you decide, using scientific methods, whether one variable actually causes the other to occur?
1- to 2-paragraph write-up including the following:
Using scientific methods, explain how you determined whether one variable causes the other to occur.
In the example you chose, describe what factors you need to be aware of when trying to establish a causal relationship. Decide whether the scenario represents a case of positive or negative correlation, and explain your choice.

Hospital nursing shortage and increase in consumer demand is a negative correlation. In a negative correlation one event results in the opposite action for the other. The two do not point the same direction; shortage in the hospital staff workers results to an increase in the consumer demand (Bennet, Briggs & Triola, 2009)
In inferring whether one event causes the other one must carry out a controlled experiment in the hospital. This experiment will entail deploying more hospital staff workers while maintaining the high number of the patients to the hospitals. In carrying out the exp...
