To the BCC, the passive voice has been utilized to facilitate formality without identifying people directly (BBC, n.d.) For instance, in reporting the current earthquakes and a tropical storm Otto currently affecting the place the broadcasters use the imperial system. On the contrary the BBC uses a metric system, even as the station also has an international outlook. CNN International uses both the imperial and metric system with reports stationed at Atlanta, Los Angeles, New York, London, Abu Dhabi and Hong Kong.
