Australia primarily uses the metric system compared to the imperial system used in the US, and when there are imported goods they are displayed using the metric system. This is particularly for the weight of products, which are reported suing the gross and the net weights in kilograms. The tariffs and regulation in Australia highlight the use of the metric system of weights and measures for countries exporting products to Australia. One of the main differences among countries is the shoe size measuring system, where the Australian system is similar to that of the UK and New Zealand.
The food products are weighed in kilograms, but there are few instances where consumer products are measured in inches and feet especially TV screen sizes and clothing.
