Effective communication is a significant aspect of every business unit. This factor determines the success of an investment, especially where people originating from different cultures become members of the business. In this case, the investors must come up with ways of communicating effectively across the firm, from the management to the employees and other stakeholders. Since all the participants originate from different cultures, they will present themselves differently at work and meetings. Proper business relations originate from proper training on how to handle the common difficulties in communication and different cultural beliefs among members. Business people from different cultures should major in some aspect of commonality in culture to ensure international communication becomes effective. Business is promoted to greater levels when people from different cultures come up with new approaches to solve problems by combining the available cultural perspectives to understand ideas brought up by others better.
International communication in business is faced with a lot of challenges because in most cases, participants from one culture may not understand the difference in cultural practices and traditions implemented by the other participant. At some point in the business processes, one member might decide to stand firmly by their view and understanding of how the business should be conducted. This idea means that the member does not respect other participant’s cultural beliefs because they think that their own is superior. Consequently, the issue leads to conflict among the members as all the participants expect and desire respect for their culture. Anthropologist Hall gives intercultural communication a clear definition as a type of communication that shares the same information to people from different cultures and social classes. High context culture depends on actual communication and a wide range of nonverbal cues. The message passed is only understood with a background of the cultural beliefs involved. This type of communication majors on the association and interaction of the parties involved ensuring that all the participants have the same originality. On the other hand, low context culture relays explicit interaction in communication whereby the message is defined clearly without any limitations (Southeastern University Online, 2019). The information passed is confidential and hence does not require personal associations and interactions. Businesses do well in low context cultures because their communications do not have any boundaries.
