EXERCISE DIRECTIONS:
1) Write an essay about the U.S. economic relief provided recently from stimulus checks.
2) Do research on the Internet to find information about this economic relief initiative.
3) The essay must have 6 paragraphs.
4) Each paragraph must have 5 to 10 sentences. Include information in all your paragraphs regarding
circumstances that may vary for different taxpayers and make decisions about stimulus check money
different from one taxpayer to another.

As a strategy to help those affected by the coronavirus pandemic, Congress included stimulus checks in the implementation of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act). The aim of the stimulus checks is for the recipients to immediately spend the money, which is a direct way of jumpstarting economic growth. Adults earning a maximum of $75, 000 received a stimulus check of $1,200 while couples earning up to $150, 000 received $150, 000. Eligible couples with children received an additional $500 per child below 17 years (Still & Long, 2020). The amount of each stimulus check that an individual or couple received was based on the 2018 or 2019 tax returns. The stimulus checks were disbursed during the second week of April.
One of the main goals of stimulus checks is to ensure Americans live comfortably during the coronavirus pandemic. As a result, the stimulus checks can be used to meet immediate needs such as food, rent, and mortgages. However, emphasis should be placed on food because some companies and financial institutions are offering relief on mortgages and rent. Therefore, the beneficiaries need to locate programs in their states that supplement their immediate needs. Meeting immediate needs is a smart way of spending the stimulus checks because it ensures people live comfortably while injecting money into the economy.
A faction of the stimulus checks provides an extra $500 per child below 17 years. Therefore, parents can use the stimulus checks to open a long term investment account for their children. Opening an investment account for children is a viable option during this time because some states are offering tax benefits while financial institutions are struggling to get customers.
