Blue Apron is a food and processing company whose main business is supplying the people with ready-made processed foods as well as the recipes .It is a very convenient idea especially for the middle working class who are so busy at work, a situation that makes them have more disposable income than time to enjoy their income. It is therefore helpful so that one doesn’t have to go through the rigorous processes of checking for what they want to prepare. The company is growing steadily, getting more and more subscriptions as each year goes. This industry however, is still emerging and as a result, there are more competitors venturing into it, one of them being Tomato Sherpa. This paper will offer a competitive market analysis for Blue Apron’s new product, considering the nature of the market based on its main competitor, Tomato Sherpa.
The market for the new product will essentially be the middle working class, who has no time to go through databases to help them choose what cook. However, by tapping into the lower end of the market as well, the company is likely to capture the clients who don’t have much but need the food services as well. The main things that will affect its supply and demand will be the ingredients, mode of packaging and the cost of its new product. If the packaging is made up of more environmental-friendly or simply, recyclable materials, then it will bring about more demand. Tomato Sherpa is growing fast and Blue Apron needs to be on its toes to keep away the competition. It came early into the market and managed to do partnerships with more established companies, such as Mercy and Lyft (Robinson, 2014).
