In this case standardization is very important because it is an important process of building a well-developed Healthcare Information System. Health information standards refer to instruments used in the operation of healthcare facilities, management, and planning of the health sector to develop national systems of health. Health IT standards are agreed upon for connecting systems together and thus facilitating data security, data transport, and even data structure.
Information systems in the health sectors play a significant role in improving health outcomes and decision making in terms of funding and planning of health care facilities. Health standards also allow sharing data related to health as well as comparing data across the health sector. Internationally, there are recognized information standards that are meant to improve the cancer registry, hospital in-patient inquiry, and storage of vital statistics (Winter, Haux, Ammenwerth, Brigl, Hellrung & Jahn, 2011).
