Telecommuting: Plenty Of Benefits To Employee

Essay Instructions:

To achieve professional success in any field, we must be able to communicate persuasively. As you learned in writing your rhetorical analysis essay, advertisers use ethos, pathos, and logos to convince customers to buy their products. Similarly, you may use ethos, pathos, and logos in a variety of workplace situations to reach your goals. Consider the following scenarios:
You've just completed a successful project for your organization that will result in increased revenues and reduced costs. You believe you deserve a reward. How will you convince your boss?
You have a great idea to start a new non-profit or business in your community, but you need an initial investment to turn your plans into reality. How will you persuade investors to believe in you?
The park across the street from your company's office is covered in unsightly litter. If your company could help clean it up, it would improve the park's appearance and boost the image of your organization in the community. How would you convince your colleagues to participate in the cleanup effort?
For this assignment, you will apply your understanding of ethos, pathos, and logos to persuade an educated, discerning audience, in the form of an essay written in APA format. Here are a few possible topics for your essay:
Persuade your boss to give you a raise and/or promotion at work.
Pretend that you are running for a locally elected office in your community. Explain why voters should choose you.
Make a persuasive pitch for implementing a new money-saving process, offering a new product or service, or improving employee morale at your workplace.
You have a great idea for a new business, or for a non-profit organization in your community. Write an extended pitch to attract investors. (See "Microgenre: The Pitch," pp. 244-246 for an example).
Convince your supervisor to allow all employees to spend one afternoon of paid time each month volunteering at a local charity.
Make a persuasive case for allowing employees to telecommute (work from home) one day per week.

Telecommuting Students Name Institutional Affiliation Telecommuting is a mode of employment whereby employees are required to work from home or a location near their home. They make use of their internet and emails to communicate with the rest of the employees in the office to ensure that they liaise on how to go about certain tasks. Given the current advancements in technology, telecommuting has become one of the most productive strategies used in the achievement of organizational goals. Working from home would only require the presence of an employee in the office when necessary. However, with the proper planning whereby an employee would only be allowed to telecommute once a week, then there are few chances that they would be required in the office during that day. For instance, the company holds weekly meeting an employee can still attend it through video conferencing. As well, the availability of video conferencing has also made it easy for employees to comfortably attend to office matters while at the comfort of their homes. This would provide them with ample time to work on their projects. Regardless of the disadvantages associated with telecommuting, it would be a great strategy for the organization to cut on costs and enhance the ability of employees to achieve organizational goals (Zia & Bilal, 2017). Telecommuting provides an employee with plenty of benefits that make it easy for them to achieve the above objectives. Telecommuting would cut on the expenses incurred by the employees in terms of transport hence motivating them to work their level best towards the achievement of the organizational goals. A substantial number of the employees have been complaining that their salaries are not sufficient to cater for all their bills and still have money left for luxury. In addition, given the profitability position of the company, it could be challenging to raise the salaries of such employees (Bernardino, 2017). This could only end up in increasing the expenses of the company, and the long-run impact could be bankruptcy. Therefore, telecommuting would be a great opportunity for the company to help in cutting the employees expenses. The strategy would not only be beneficial to the employees but also to the company since the employees will focus on meeting their work objectives. The employees will also feel appreciated in terms of their finances and in turn, this would motivate them more into working their level best to complete allocated projects. Some employees have been considering resignation, and hence, this strategy could save the company a lot of expenses associated with new recruitments. Companies have saved up to 10% through employee retention. Cutting their transport expenses would be a great way of preventing employees from resigning and therefore, the management should consider the provision of this offer. Employees would be offered a day every week to work from home. In addition, telecommuting would relieve the employees from the workplace pressure hence enabling them to be more productive as compared to their situations when working from the office. In some cases, working under supervision, especially in the case of urgent projects can be overwhelming to employees. Therefore, allowing them to work from home woul...
