Lisa’s case
After being on a hit and run incident, Lisa will largely experience an Acute Stress Disorder accompanied by depression and feelings of insecurity. The psychological effects of depression would be short-lived until Lisa gets to know the status of her car whether totaled or repairable. If totaled, Lisa’s insurance company will pay her which will enable her to buy another car. However, feelings of insecurity will be long-lived as long as Lisa lives in the same neighborhood and drops off her kids at the same daycare.
Lisa will be emotionally scarred while driving. The fear of being hit over again will affect Lisa’s driving style making her be more cautious on the road. Lisa seems to be a low income-income earner making her unable to afford a fancy policy. Hence, the accident will greatly destabilize her. Moreover, the adjustment disorder caused by her car being involved in an accident will for a short while disorient her mobility prior to clearing things up with the insurance company. The psychological effect stimulates the emotional standing of Lisa which in this case may live relatively short.
The social effect, in this case, is Lisa’s setback to poverty and probably loss of a job. Lisa does not have money to repair the car if the insurance company fails to offer another car and if Lisa repairs it, other social aspects will suffer due to the financial implications brought about by the accident.
