Communication and training are two main elements of all human resource activities including performance appraisal programs; the key components of a performance appraisal program are training employees, providing them with performance-based rewards and setting job expectations. Organizations must motivate their employees to increase productivity and generate more revenues. They should provide them with sufficient opportunities to grow in the workplace. An employee's first day at the office is the basic chance to develop a healthy relationship and establish job expectations. The management should give him a “welcome letter” containing job description, a list of weekly or monthly tasks and responsibilities, salary details, and the way he should perform his duty. Motivation is the process that will energize your new and old employees and propel them to pursue their goals (Drake, 2015).
It's safe to say that well-executed and well-structured performance appraisals have a tremendous motivational impact. Through appraisal programs, you can motivate your workers, connect them to each other and help them to give their best. They (performance appraisals) primarily demonstrate the need for growth and improvement. If your workers don't understand how they should perform their duties, they cannot be motivated and won't make any improvement.
A performance appraisal is a process that helps you to rate or evaluate the performance of your employees on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. Then you can document your observations, reward the best employees and ask others to work harder. The rater will have to conduct meetings with employees to discuss crucial points. During this meeting, he can introduce new employees to everyone, share new ideas, set goals, assign tasks to the workers and ask them to meet the deadlines at any cost (Gillen, 2017).
