Our course will explore Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Community Relations (CR) from two lenses:
CSR as a broad concept: This approach is intended to introduce different approaches to the global industry of CSR. We will address the huge and continuously evolving role of CSR in business through discussion, readings, and ‘non-signature project’ assignments.
CSR as community relations (CR): This approach will introduce CSR as local, community-centered work. The CR signature project will focus on the tangible work of a CSR/CR manager. The project will focus on a place and organization of your choosing (see below). This may be an organization or community that you are currently involved with, or one that you would like to learn more about. Throughout the course, we will build concepts of CR initiative design. Most weeks, you will be assigned a Signature Project contribution exercise. These exercises will build upon one another to create a final project that you will present to the class. 
At this point in the course, you have become familiar with several CSR initiatives in large and small organizations, as well as many larger topics that we may not have discussed directly.  For this assignment, please assess Nike company. Imagine that you have been to serve as a consultant to answer some key questions:
In what ways do you feel current CSR work is serving this company directly?
In what ways do you feel current CSR programming might be serving external constituents or communities?
What is your general assessment of this work? What would you recommend as next steps?
What concepts from class of course readings connect with your assessment at this time?
For your work, you will consist of two main steps:
1) An analysis of how the company's current work compares with course concepts
2) Recommendations of what this company should consider next
 Your work should consider key topics we have covered in of class and connect claims to course readings.

Carrol (1991) posits that a stakeholder involves a group of people who have a stake in the overall business entity. In that case, stakeholders affect the company, and the reverse is right in that the company also influences the stakeholders. Key stakeholders, in this case, involve clients and how they can carry out CSR to them.
Nike Inc.'s brand image deployed via products like sports shoes, apparel, and equipment is vital in influencing stakeholders' interests and actions. Nike has launched various corporate social responsibilities in a bid to address the benefits of these stakeholders. One of the company's primary arms is the Nike Foundation, which acts as the chief corporate social responsibility approach (Nike Social and Community Impact, 2020). Nike Inc. satisfies its interests via working out on stakeholders' interests via the company's corporate social responsibility programs. Consequently, the CSR policy and plan are according to the company's consideration of customers and communities who have interests that are key to the corporates design and production of apparel, footwear, and equipment.
