The Team Manager Project – Individual Paper
The Team Manager Project was critical to my study, and it enabled me to learn various vital things about teamwork. The performance of my team was outstanding, and I liked how members collaborated to ensure that everything was progressing in the right direction. Moreover, I understood the significance of effective leadership in achieving the set objectives. Were it not for the cooperation and unity that group members showed throughout the project, it would not have been successful. The most significant thing in teamwork is proper interpersonal communication. When members understand that they need to help one another instead of competing against each other, everything runs smoothly. For this reason, the paper focuses on three insights that I discovered during the project, events that caused them, and recommendations on how to improve on them.
The three primary insights about teamwork that I discovered throughout the project include communication, commitment to set objectives, and the leader-member relationship. Specifically, while working in a team, members must keep in touch with each other to ensure that all processes are on schedule. Our team had a lateral or horizontal communication where all people interacted well among themselves. We used all communication modes, namely nonverbal, written, and oral (Robbins & Judge, 2018). The language barrier is the most significant issue that can affect how members interact with each other in a team. In my team, the leader ensured that everyone knew his or her tasks, and that relevant information was communicated on time. For this reason, individuals were devoted and helped one another when any problem arose, which is the reason why my group was successful.
My second insight is the commitment to set objectives. For instance, for the interview to be successful, members had to meet and come up with the appropriate questions to ask. At this point, everyone’s contributions were highly valued. The team culture was listening and helping each other in every activity or situation. That is the reason why the team overcame all problems since members were united and understood that an individual’s success was important to the overall outcome of the team. Some of the events that led to this insight were members’ arguments and task completion. Since members have varying opinions and ideas, minor differences were inevitable. However, the group leader intervened to ensure that all people were on the same page.
Furthermore, the leader-member relationship was another insight that significantly affected the well-being of my team. We had a transformative and emotionally intelligent leader who interacted with members frequently. Emotional intelligence entails the person’s ability to identify and respect self and othe...
