Management Philosophy
I am currently a student, learning and finding new ways of managing several tasks. I come across several activities that require a lot of managerial skills to sort. For some time, I worked in a family business before my schoolwork piled. I still assist part-time. Major roles were on human resource management, decision making, and planning for the future of the business. While this was a short period, I learned the kind of leader I am and can apply a SWOT analysis to managerial skills as described below.
My strength as a leader includes self-motivation, team player and success orientation. During the short time I worked with my parents, I noticed my abilities to handle every task without an extra push from them. I reported to my duties on time, was ever active at work, and engaged others at work. This was teamwork achieved through consultation to find out how to handle tasks beyond my capabilities and was successful after I was taught. My success on some occasions motivated me to always work for more. At times, things never worked, and I took on such challenges to learn something new, and use the skills gained to do it even better another time. I remember during an Easter holiday when I had to handle the business alone when my parents were out of the home, and upon their return, more than half 90% of the tasks left at my disposal were delivered. This built trust me and encouraged me to perform better.
Being a young leader who had not grasped a lot of working experience, I had weaknesses too. One of them was getting nervous. Every time I am presented with a new task, I freak at the realization that I need to deliver my best. Sometimes, my best is not the expected best. By this, I find it a little technical to achieve some tasks, albeit with doubts. Closely linked to this are my computer skills.
