There are management problems in the company that will be addressed here and there will be possible solutions. Since the company is facing issues that might have been causing the deterioration of the company’s performance, and the company is production driven, there are complexes that need to be stopped among the salespeople.
First of all, Bill, who is the newcomer of the company is sensing that there is an inferiority complex that is happening within the employees. There is also an indication that the ones from other departments do not respect the salespeople. There is also a rumor that the company had two salesmen with sensitive information and list of customers. This is vital information they could use against the company or use the contacts they pirate customers from the company. Bill noticed the company is more focused on the production instead of making sales, which could be the primary reason why their sales are not flourishing.
Bill suggests the idea of making the company value-oriented instead of premium demand and the old employees think that it is a wonderful because their accounting and control systems are all going downhill. Bill uses an IPad to help with his work, but the others are not okay with it. In fact, it caused quite a commotion in the office. This is a problem because it seems they do not like to accept new ideas or strategies which could help move things quicker. There is also a miscommunication within the management department because they do not agree with one another. Roger allowed Bill to have an IPad for work, but Louise does not like it and pointed out that he did not check with Paul and the others if they were fine with it. When this happened, it is clear that Louise has an inferiority complex over Roger and Bill.
Bill was seen as a threat to the company and there seems to be conspiracy, which is why he was part of the lay-off.
In order to solve the miscommunication, there needs to be transparency because this helps in unraveling issues that need to be addressed. Communication is a necessity in expressing problems and if this is not done, it becomes a treasure hunt before they find an answer to it (Llopis, 2013). If a leader is able to facilitate an open communication between people are confident about their intentions and feel safe about sharing their insights, they will not worry about sharing what they think.
