However, in other cases it can lead to demoralized employees, low job satisfaction, and diminished productivity. The leader plays an important role in either outcome. Successful leaders are able to rally employees to embrace changes, and help those who are resistant to cope with change.
In this assignment, you explore the role of the public or nonprofit leader in the successful implementation of organizational change.
For this assignment, review this week's Learning Resources. Consider major types of changes that affect public and nonprofit organizations. Identify an organization with which you are familiar. Then select one type of change that may or has occurred in that organization, and consider a leader's role in successfully implementing this change in the organization you identified. Reflect on the challenges related to the implementation of this change.

The Salvation Army is both a global charitable institute and a Protestant Christian church. The organization has a membership of 1.5 million people; these individuals include Salvationists, officers, and soldiers. The initiators of this Institute Booth and Catherine wanted to bring redemption to the deprived and hungry by meeting their divine and physical necessities (Alvesson & Sveningsson, 2015). The Salvation Army organization runs in 127 nations, constructing shelters for homeless, operating charity shops, humanitarian help, and disaster relief to the emerging countries (Marston et al., 2015). The Army was established in 1865 in London.
The primary aim of the Army is to provide clothing, food, care, and comfort to the needy. The organization believes that it could overcome hunger and impoverishment (Shea, Jacobs, Esserman, Bruce, & Weiner, 2014). In America, the Army runs 7,546 centers in communities; these comprise the provision of food, anti-human trafficking efforts, reintegration centers, and a wealth of kids' programs. The organization’s operations are financed via kettle aids, businesses contributions, and the sale of products bequeathed to their Salvation Army Family Stores. It is clear that 82% of every dollar the Institute spend supports its diverse mission’s worldwide (Shea et al., 2014). In the US the establishment is exempted from taxes; additionally, the organization’s charities are deductible for Federal Income Tax Purposes.
The Salvation Army organization could undergo a remedial change. This is an organizational change that reacts to a general shortage or poor performance (Cummings & Worley, 2014). In this case, the performance of the organization could have appeared to decline majorly affected by fiscal difficulties. Therefore, remedial changes executed with the aim of amassing functionality and revising particular policies that would have earlier been regarded as beneficial; nonetheless, they could end up becoming harmful to the Salvation Army’s structure.
