Leadership Model, Theory And Approach Management Assignment

Abstract
This research paper reviews and evaluates the major theories, models, and approaches to leadership. The paper achieves its aim by summarizing the findings from empirical research on the Arkansas Parole Board leadership by John Felts. The Board of Parole and Community Rehabilitation was refurbished by the legislature. The new board consisted of three full-time officials and was named Arkansas Post-Prison Transfer Board. However, the Senate Bill 383 of 2005 renamed it Arkansas Parole Board. This move was orchestrated by the urge to eliminate confusion on public understanding of the Board’s duties. Literature review relays the literature on Parole Boards’ leadership and explains the leadership models, theories or approaches. Major topics and arguments are management versus leadership, leader skills and traits, leader activities and behavior, leader power and influence, transformational leadership, situational leadership, leader behavior determinants, the importance of leadership in an effective organization, organizational culture, and leadership as an attribution process. The leadership models are discussed in their three levels: Personal, private, and public leadership.
