Over the years, the rate of income inequality in the USA has continued to rise. The socioeconomic gaps in life have also expanded. Life expectancy among the high-income and middle-income Americans has also been on the rise, whereas for poor Americans its has been on the decline. The rise in income inequality since the 1990s is attributed to increasing top incomes, and widening of inequalities between the upper-middle and poor class.
Income entails the revenue streams ranging from interest on savings, salaries, and wages. Income inequalities are the norm in America’s top 10% who own as much money as the bottom 90% (Bor, Cohen, & Galea, 2017). The few individuals in the top 1% earn more income than the rest of the population, and they have continued to double their share over the years due to favourable economic conditions.
