Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to document the approach Group 4 used to manufacture a product in a developing country and supply it to a developed world. The paper will focus on the procurement and production strategy and will address all three pillars of sustainability: economic, social and environmental). The paper will also include an analysis on local laws, capability, capacity and geographical location of the selected country. In addition, the use of a Gantt chart and House of Quality will be presented for further justification of the selected country.

Introduction
Understanding both the internal and external circumstances surrounding a product development initiative is crucial for its long-term success. On the oner hand, it allows the business managers to understand the factors that should be taken into consideration at every decision that they have to make in order to ensure its profitability. On the other hand, it also gives them a better knowledge about how to develop the product in sustainable way. Accordingly, this article would discuss the different procurement and production strategies that could be utilized in order to develop the product cost-effectively. The subsequent chapters would discuss in particular the three pillars of sustainability as well as how can these be achieved for this project.
Customer Requirements
The customer has a need for a new brand of smartphone (Zodiac) and requested our group develop a solution. The customer requires the product to be low-cost, affordable, and high-quality enough to be able to compete with other products in developed countries such as the United States.
Product Design
The new smart phone product is expected to be similar with current smartphones in the market. It has a dimension of 138.4 x 67.3 x 7.3 mm and weighs as light as 152g. It has a screen size of around 5.0” and has medium bezels on both sides (larger bezels on the top and bottom). In order to maintain the low price-point while keeping up with its functionality, it will feature single rear camera and front camera with 15 MP and 8 MP of resolution. In addition to this, the phone will feature an internal storage of 32 Gb expandable for another 32 Gb. It has 15Gbs of ram and a long-lasting battery of 2,091 mAh. Lastly, the phone’s Operating System (OS) would be powered by Android 9.0 Pie for a better user interface (UI) for its users.
