Formulate an Internet of Things Problem Statement

Essay Instructions:

Formulate an Internet of Things Problem Statement Instructions Read and critically analyze this week’s assigned readings related to considerations within the IoT (Internet of Things) field. Select a technical challenge, issue, consideration, or other topic from this week’s readings, or from last week’s research, that is an open research question that requires additional research to address. Write a problem statement in which you address the items below. • What is the problem that should be addressed with additional research (i.e., what is going wrong)? Support the existence of the problem with at least three recent references. • What is the impact of the problem? That is, how are the victims (field of study, researchers, practitioners, industry, civilians, etc.) negatively affected by the problem, when is the problem evident, and where does the issue exist or become obvious? Provide an example of the problem in action or as experienced by those affected by it. Support the impact of the problem with at least three recent references. • Why does the problem exist? Discuss the conceptual basis, the nature of the problem, and outline of the problem as defined by the literature. Support underlying cause of the problem with at least three recent peer-reviewed references. Length: 5-7 pages, not including title and reference pages References: At least 5 scholarly peer-reviewed sources in addition to the assigned readings for this week Your paper should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts presented in the course and provide new thoughts and insights relating directly to this topic. Internet of Things
Given that we are entering the new era of computing technology referred to as the Internet of Things (IoT), there are advancements from machine to machine, machine to infrastructure, the internet of everything, the internet of intelligent things and the happening of such innovations is potentially large. The internet of things (IoT) is seen as billions of smart connected things that will encompass every aspect of our lives, and its foundation is the intelligence that is embedded in the processing ( Freescale and Emerging Technologies, 2012). The IoT is made up of smart machines that interact and communicate with other machines, objects, environment, and infrastructure. One of the IoT aspects is the idea of interconnected cars. In this paper, I am going to review the idea of interconnected cars as a problem in the Internet of Things by looking at one of the assigned reading and also the research carried out by different authors about the subject.
The problem that is addressed by the research in the paper is the lack of cars manufacturing companies to make or design cars in such a way that they become an internet of things. Through becoming an internet of things, it would be easier to track the movement of cars from one place to another, and it would be easier for the people to interact with their cars. Most of the people move around through the use of cars, and the cars can be used to show what people like through looking at the places in which the people go with their cars. The research has been supported by the work of two other authors who identify the necessity of making the cars to be digitalized. In their research, authors Flavio Bonomi and Cisco Fellow identify that there is need to make the cars to be viewed as an intelligent system that is made up of devices in which modern technology is used such as the presence if Wi-Fi hotspots on the roadside (Flavio & Cisco, 2013). They will help to track the movement of the car from one place to another by the manufacturer. Just like in the original problem, the use of registration numbers for the cars needs to be digitalized like the barcode that is seen in the products that we purchase from the shops of the supermarkets. The authors also say that it is necessary to manufacture a vehicle in such a way that it is made up of sensors that will detect different issues. Such sensors can include the ability to detect fire, wind, rain, rear obstacle sensor, GPS Sensor and steering angle sensor (Lopez Research, 2013).
There is a different white paper that addresses the same problem. In the paper, the writer argues that the internet of things (cars) should be made in such a way that they should provide other digital services rather than just being used as a travel means or driving means (Hewlett Packard Enterprise, 2014). They also project that an increase in the number of the digitalized cars would lead to an increase in their manufacture since each of the people will want to be connected to the internet. The car of the future will be in such a way that it is safer for the passengers and the road users since it will use the sensors to detect accurate information about the condition of the weather in a given place ...
