The behaviors that create trust in the ethical leadership of a supervisor, manager, or company executive include openness, communication, and empathy. These three essential elements help push an employee away or closer to the organization. A leader needs to exercise what he stands for and lead by example (Gonzalez-Padron, 2015). Winning the trust of junior staff calls for a great understanding of their experiences and relating to them personally. It also calls for fairness, where promotions and recognition are based on merit and nothing else. The descriptors in the ELQ list are okay and manageable to observe.
