Employees are critical resources for any organization; the recruitment, selection, and development of employees are fundamental requirements of human resources management. Recruitment and selection processes are vital because the two processes determines the success of the organization; having the right staff will ensure that the organization sustains its performance. Organization operations affect the general outcomes (Ekwoaba, et al., 2015).
Several kinds of literature propose different strategies and emphasize on ways of conducting recruitment and selection of employees and the positive and negative impact on leadership or healthcare organizations. In an article by Ekwoaba, et al., (2015) titled The Impact of Recruitment and Selection Criteria on Organizational Performance; the article presents the role of human resource department. According to the author, recruitment and selection needs to attract the right candidates to be employed. The effectiveness of human resource department determines on organizational functions. Recruiting and selection of the wrong candidates with limited capabilities resulting in negative consequences, including wastage of resources (Ekwoaba, et al., 2015).
The authors acknowledge the fact that recruitment and selection are meant to identify and select candidates based on specific qualities to achieve the organizations' strategic objectives. The selection practices determine how the hiring process occurs, if properly designed the organization will hire the right candidate that match the job. Using proper selection tools will increase the organization productivity (Ekwoaba, et al.,2015).
