Chapter eleven and twelve contain relevant information that can help an organization to retain the best performing employees and implement a fair pay structure. “Separating and Retaining Employees” portrays how an enterprise can ensure that it keeps good performers for an extended period and encourage or force low performing workers to leave. The three primary strategies that can be used for employee separation include interactional justice, outcome fairness, and procedural justice. Although employers have the right to fire their workers, I have learned that they should avoid wrongful discharge, violating employees’ privacy, and illegal discrimination. Before workers are suspended or fired, they should be notified in advance. I have learned that before an employee’s job is terminated, the employer should have adhered to various steps. They include unofficial warning, issuing an official written warning, a second warning, a temporary suspension to give the individual a chance to change, and the job termination if the behavior persists (Noe, Hollenbeck, Gerhart, & Wright, 2018). Moreover, the core dispute resolution methodologies are mediation, open-door policy, peer review, and arbitration.
