Each disaster scenario, such as Hurricane Katrina in 2005 or the Texas wintry weather storm electricity outages in 2021, has special traits that should impact the introduction and implementation of a disaster strategy (DR).
Category 5 Hurricane Katrina wreaked havoc alongside the Gulf Coast, with New Orleans taking the brunt of the storm's destruction. Extreme rainfall and powerful gusts from a storm brought about enormous flooding, storm surges, and infrastructure damage. A DR method would have hoped to encompass measures unique to the geographic breadth of the affected areas to properly put together for and act in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. The approach would have had to prioritize restoring energy lines, verbal exchange networks, transportation systems, and healthcare establishments in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama, conducting rescue operations, looking for missing people, and restoring key infrastructure. To successfully install resources and offerings to help affected communities, such a layout would have required collaboration with multiple companies and groups.
In contrast, in 2021, severe bloodless and heavy snowfall brought about enormous power grid failures and power outages across Texas.
