Susan has identified a number of problems with nightshift employees such as the pilferage of massive quantities of goods from the premises, the high level of laxity since a large backlog of work remained only to be undertaken by the employees who operate on a daytime basis, allowing friends get away with freebies, employees failing to close the store door during their work time, and employees slacking off on their job as though they never cared at all (R. Cohen & Johnson, 2019). The management tends to show or rather minimal responsibility and accountability towards the effective execution of duties within the work environment. Competency building is wanting as derived from the substandard staffing method which is merely based on the longevity of an individual in the place and the respective potential while other crucial factors such as responsibility are shunned. The student managers are not provided with the requisite ground rules or stipulated regulations for executive work with regard to duty functions (R. Cohen & Johnson, 2019). The work culture is so arbitrary that impunity at work seems to reign supreme. The institutional policies and protocols are so vague coupled with loopholes that allowed for abuse of duties while at work. For instance, the employees were at liberty to consume anything while on duty but the rule was not stringently adhered to as the workers off-duty and friends could yet benefit from the policy illegally. The system control was in dire straits since there was only a single trained manager who only operated at daytime while the crudely informed student managers worked nonchalantly at night.
