1 Describe the safety design review process
A safety design entails the integration of specific strategies, including the identification of hazards and the assessment of risks to minimize or eliminate injury (Bottani, Monica & Vignali, 2009). As a result, the safety design review process can be described as an approach that expects hazards and potential risks with the aim of preventing the two factors an entry into the workplace (Yorio, Willmer & Moore, 2015). This process can be referred to as a milestone since it ensures that a safety design has been evaluated against its requirement and assists in the identification of safety issues that would affect the product development process (Bottani, Monica & Vignali, 2009). Notably, safety is a vital factor in any production line since it maintains and improves employee output and satisfaction levels.
The safety design review process is compulsory as part of design controls since it affects the product development process. The design process could be carried out through means such as engineering simulations, physical tests, and examinations (Yorio, Willmer & Moore, 2015). Simulations can be used in safety designs to highlight safety issues that have not occurred but can only be anticipated. Physical examinations include walkthroughs by the safety professionals to assess safety designs that affect different departments in the workplace (Bottani, Monica & Vignali, 2009). In the long-run, the review processes ensure that companies have achieved hazard control and avoidance in the chosen design process.
2 Explain the role and importance of safety in a safety management system.
Importantly, a safety management system is applied to achieve the required safety elements at the workplace through a series of policies and procedures.
