I have carefully reviewed the citations and penalties document. This document was sent by the OSHA via the Local Area Director. A quick action or response is required to ensure that everything goes on smoothly or without any problem (Kamrin, 2014). I would take a couple of actions. For example, I would like to arrange an informal meeting with the Area Director. I would make them a phone call for this purpose, giving them up to 15 days to decide which day would be good for the meeting. Prior to the meeting, I would have to make sure that an appropriate abatement process is carried out and that the supporting files and documents are available to prove my point of view. During the meeting, I would present different concepts and would try to get the citations and penalties reduced to a great extent.
The informal meeting would be of great help because it would allow the area director to know why the citations and penalties need to be reduced by 30 percent or more. A penalty reduction that accounts for over 30 percent will require approval by the Regional Administrator. In this situation, the OSHA officials will have to be informed so that there is no violation of any rule, regulation or law.
Next, I would write a Notice of Contest to the director of this area, and OSHA would be given nearly two weeks from the receipt date of the citation and penalty document (Kamrin, 2014). In this notice, I would speak against a couple of citations that need to be changed or amended as early as possible. In addition, I would highlight the value of reducing penalties.
