Some of the major functions of the low back (also known as lumbar area) are movement, protection of certain tissues or organs and structural support. Pain in this part of the body is the result of conditions impacting ligaments around the spine, the bony lumbar spine, the skin that covers the lumbar area, and intervertebral discs (these discs are present between the vertebrae). The treatment of low back pain begins after the diagnosis of the specific cause. For example, if a person is suffering from acute back pain, then a home remedy can be of help. In order to answer the research question, the researchers first categorized participants into the control group and the treatment group, each of which consisted of 26 members. Then they performed certain statistical testing procedures such as chi-sq test and t-test and repeated measures analysis of the variance. Among all of these tests, t-test was given high preference because it helped determine the difference between the means of the control group and the treatment group.
